Bee Girl Organization: Sharing Kindness

We discovered Bee Girl Organization not that long ago when researching new people and initiatives that share kindness to our Planet. We fell in love with the humble &  generous mission of Sarah, Bee Girl, who for the past 10 years educates and inspires communities to conserve bees, their flowers, and our countryside! Bees support the growth of trees, flowers, and other plants, which serve as food and shelter for creatures large and small. They contribute to complex, interconnected ecosystems that allow a diverse number of different species to coexist.

Today, having a team of five super-hero staff members and thousands of volunteers, Bee Girl Organization researches the field of bee care & incorporates their findings in real life with the help of generous people who donate to the organization, as well as with  beekeeping, farming, conservation, and university communities.

It’s incredible how it all started! Sarah knew her mission to help bees from an early age & while in university she understood that publishing papers is not enough, only spending the time with bees in the nature as well as making connections & share her observations with people to, hopefully inspire some action toward the conservation of bees and their flowers. She started a small non-profit to get her through until the next research season, but when the time came to apply for the university again, she decided to stick with the project she has started and now, “Bee Girl” is a brand recognized around the world.

Here is a list of things that Bee Girl organization reached since it's been founded:

  • Given 180 presentations in 19 states, 3 Canadian provinces, and 6 countries
  • Directly reached 88,237 adults through over 200 classes and events
  • Taught 15,105 kids all about bees in our live programs (we’ve reached hundreds of thousands more through our virtual platforms)
  • Put 377,625 square feet of flower seeds in the hands of kids
  • Started 7 bee habitat projects on approximately 380 acres
  • Discovered Oregon's first Squash Bee, Peponapis pruniosa
  • Catalogued over 20,000 bee specimens to help tell the story of our regeneration and conservation projects

Bee Girl Organization always appreciates receiving support from the others in the form of smiles, kindness & donations that make their visions come true. Donations can be general or dedicated to specific projects such as a recent “Mobile Research and Education Unit” to deepen BGO work and create a system of efficiency that will provide time for the real work of maintaining & analyzing bee life in seven habitat projects on approximately 380 acres. If you want to support this idea, you are more than welcome to leave your donation here

We are so happy to have discovered this great & kind idea of saving bees which are crucial in keeping the ecosystems together & in balance on our Planet. During the month of November every Son de Flor parcel shipped to you will include a pair of special BEE Kind socks, made from recycled polyester by our friends Ūkai featuring a lovely illustration of flowers & bees, created by the Canadian artist Carolyn Gavin! Along with every pair of BEE Kind socks, we will transfer a donation of 5EUR to the Bee Girl Organization to support her research & education programmes in bee preservation.
